Whipped or dalgona coffee has been super popular in the past year, thanks to social media. The hype around it is due to its beautiful aesthetic and simplicity. All you need is 3 ingredients! Sugar, water, and instant coffee.

Having fallen into the hype, I tried it for myself. I have to say, it is quite amazing, especially for hot days.
In this post, I’m going to discuss how to make a whipped coffee. Additionally, there are some tips for keto and vegan versions as well! If you love iced coffee, you’re going to enjoy this!
Equipment Needed:
- Whisk, fork, electric mixer, whatever you have!
- Bowl
- Tall Glass
- Spoon
Tips:
- Use a 1:1:1 ratio of sugar, water, and instant coffee.
- You don’t have to use sugar, but it won’t stay fluffed up.
- Use hot water for best results. Boil water then allow it to cool 3-5 minutes.
- Finely ground beans will NOT WORK.
Regular Whipped Coffee:
- Ingredients Needed:
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of hot water
- 2 tablespoons of instant coffee
- Your favorite milk to serve
- Ice to serve
- Steps:
- Add the sugar, hot water, and instant coffee into a bowl.
- Mix until the texture is fluffy and light.
- Will take a approx. 4-5 minutes on an electric mixer.
- To serve, spoon a glob of the mixture over a glass of iced milk.
- Stir and enjoy!

No Instant Coffee Whipped Coffee:
- Ingredients Needed:
- 2 ounces of hot espresso or dark roast coffee
- 4 tablespoons of white sugar
- Your favorite milk to serve
- Ice to serve
- Steps:
- Add the sugar and espresso/coffee into a bowl.
- Mix until the texture is fluffy and light.
- Will take approx. 5-8 minutes.
- To serve, spoon a glob of the mixture over a glass of iced milk.
- Stir and enjoy!
Keto Whipped Coffee:
- Ingredients Needed:
- Replace sugar with granulated or powdered keto sweetener.
- Erythritol, allulose, monk fruit sweetener, or swerve work best.
- 2 tablespoons of hot water
- 2 tablespoons of instant coffee
- Your favorite milk to serve
- Ice to serve
- Replace sugar with granulated or powdered keto sweetener.
- Steps:
- Add the sugar/sweetener, hot water, and instant coffee into a bowl.
- Mix until the texture is fluffy and light.
- Will take a approx. 4-5 minutes on an electric mixer.
- To serve, spoon a glob of the mixture over a glass of iced milk.
- Stir and enjoy!
Other Flavors of Whipped Coffee:
- Chocolate Whipped Coffee:
- Add 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder when you start whisking.
- Vanilla Whipped Coffee:
- Add 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract when you start whisking.
- Vegan Whipped Coffee:
- Use non-dairy milk such as almond, oat, soy, or coconut milk.
How To Store:
- Place the fluffy mixture in an airtight container.
- Fridge for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 1 month.
- The mixture should stay fluffy and scoopable.
As you can see, whipped coffee is extremely easy to make. No need for fancy gear, no need for beans. Just mix 3 simple ingredients and stir with milk.
It tastes amazing as well.
